Inspector Honored by the American Society of
Home Inspectors for Long-Time Service
Johnny Kay of Arrow Home Inspection Service,
LLC, a local firm based in Fort Mill, SC,
which conducts inspections of new and
existing homes, was honored recently by the
American Society of Home Inspectors® for
five years of membership. Johnny Kay has
been an ASHI Certified Inspector since 2004.
The American Society of Home Inspectors®,
founded in 1976, is the oldest, largest and
most respected international professional
organization of independent home inspectors
in North America. Its Standards of Practice
and strict Code of Ethics are benchmarks of
professional performance in the field.
To become an ASHI Certified Inspector, an
inspector must meet rigorous professional
and technical requirements, including the
successful completion of two comprehensive
exams. In addition, the inspector must
perform at least 250 fee-paid home
inspections that meet or exceed the ASHI
Standards of Practice.
In addition to his membership, Johnny Kay
also serves ASHI as a member of the ASHI
National Legislative Committee and currently
serves as Vice-President of ASHI Carolina, a
local chapter serving the ASHI membership in
both North and South Carolina.
Johnny Kay has been an inspector for 14

October 8, 2008, Charlotte, NC - Johnny Kay, licensed North and South Carolina Home Inspector and owner of
Arrow Home Inspection Service, LLC, Fort Mill, SC, recently attended classes on Tall Walls and Wind Bracing. The course was
sponsored and instructed by iLevel and Weyerhauser.
The specific course content concentrated on "Design and Architectural Considerations of Residential Tall Walls"
and "Wall Bracing and Architectural Design". The 4 hour course is designed to improve awareness and ability to create
and specify a preliminary framing design of tall walls based on wind load considering architectural and structural requirements
as well as apply the International Residential Code prescriptive provision for wall bracing and recognize how the architectural
design can impact bracing decisions.
March 29, 2008, Concord, NC - Johnny Kay, licensed North and South Carolina Home Inspector and owner of Arrow
Home Inspection Service, LLC, Fort Mill, SC, has been awarded Certificates of Completion for continuing education courses
approved by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board. The 2 day conference was sponsored by the North
Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Association.
Course topics included Mandatory Updates, Inside - Inspecting Plumbing, Interior and Kitchen Appliances, Outside
- Inspecting Exterior and Roofing, Inexact fit - Offer to Purchase and Contract
vs. NCHILB Standards, and Under- Inspecting
Crawlspaces, Traditional and New.
By attending the conference, Kay has fulfilled the home inspector continuing education requirements for the North
Carolina through September 2009.
